where the water cuts
through, a nonprofit
501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization, was founded
in 2006 by a consortium of Native Americans committed to
strengthening and sustaining Northern New Mexico's unique
traditions and cultures. Native American, Hispanic and
other socio-cultural communities have co-existed for centuries
in the Upper Rio Grande valley, embracing values, cultural
practices and ways of life unique in the context of today's
fast-paced world. Our organization believes that traditions
emphasizing family-centered life, warm hospitality, a celebration
of the natural progression of seasons, living and working
in harmony with the natural world and sustaining its beauty
and balance are all worth preserving.
where the water cuts through supports
the protection and revitalization of these values and traditions
through its sponsorship and participation in meaningful
programs, and through symposia and other forums promoting
public and private support of its work.
